"Matteo Weber (born 2002) began his career as a pianist at the age of 13 when he won first prize at the Bach Competition in Köthen. In 2016, he was awarded "Piano Talent of the Year" at the Klavierpodium Munich and subsequently went on to win numerous national and international competitions. Further awards followed, including the César Franck Competition (Brussels), the International Music Grand Prix (New York), and the Mendelssohn University Competition (Berlin).
In addition to his solo work, Weber is also passionate about chamber music. In 2023, he will record an album of works by Phillip and Xaver Scharwenka with violinist Yoerae Kim and the label Capriccio. He also regularly performs as an accompanist and has studied this field with Hanno Müller-Brachmann, Christoph Prégardien, and Brigitte Fassbaender.
Weber has been studying with Fedele Antonicelli since 2013 and began his bachelor's degree with Sontraud Speidel at the Karlsruhe University of Music in 2019. He has also attended masterclasses with mentors such as Benedetto Lupo, Aleksandar Madžar, and Elisabeth Leonskaja.
