Curriculum vitae

Matteo Weber (*2002) began his piano career at the age of 13 when he won the 1st prize at the Bach Competition in Köthen.

After being awarded "Piano Talent of the Year" at the Klavierpodium München in 2016, he emerged in the following years as a winner of numerous national and international competitions. His successes include prizes at the César Franck Competition (Brussels), the International Music Grand Prix (New York), the International Music Festival (Paris), and the Mendelssohn University Competition (Berlin). His solo performances have taken him to venues such as the William Walton Foundation on Ischia, the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, and the Konzerthaus Berlin. Most recently, he debuted with Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra.

In addition to his solo work, he is passionately dedicated to chamber music. In 2023, he recorded an album featuring works by Philipp and Xaver Scharwenka for the label Capriccio, in collaboration with violinist Yoerae Kim.

After studying with Fedele Antonicelli, he earned his Bachelor of music degree at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe with Sontraud Speidel. He currently studies with Aleksandar Madžar at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and with Elisso Virsaladze at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.

He has attended masterclasses with Benedetto Lupo, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Philippe Raskin, and Stephen Kovacevich.
